based on paintings of St Thomas Church for sale.

- On a cold and frosty Tuesday evening children, parents and teachers
from Bidbury Junior School filled St Thomas' for their first Carol Service
at the church.
- December 3rd - Rest assured that the Parish Christmas Lunch on Sunday
is still going ahead!
A thaw is forecast, but ring Carole Ellis (023 9261 1296) if you need
to cancel because of the weather, or if you would like a lift to get
there
- December 2nd - the Youth Leaders' Forum tonight has been cancelled
because of the inclement weather
November
Our
Advent Activity Service at St Nicholas on 28th November was the biggest
and best yet - the building was packed with people, young and old, for
a really special service

- The Christmas Bazaar (on 27th November) raised over £1000! Thank
you to everyone who came along to support the Bazaar
- David, our Rector writes about Advent Sunday, on 28th November...
"Please continue to consider how you will respond to God's generosity. On
Advent Sunday – the start of a New Year in the Church Calendar – we
will come together to pledge ourselves and our financial offerings for the building
of God's Kingdom here in Bedhampton and in the world.
Every pledge is valued so please fill in and return your form
even if you are unable to change what you can offer at present.
- St Thomas Car Park - Balfour Beatty have informed us that they are
carrying out railway work over the weekend of 4/5 December and will be
using the northern end of the car park next to St Thomas for their welfare
facilities. A few car parking spaces will be termporarily unavailable
- Christmas Cards featuring St Thomas’ Church are now on sale from
Jean O’Farrell 023 9245 4654. Also greetings cards and packs of
notelets. Proceeds go to FROST.

David Proud

- Back in May we we delighted to announce that we were going to have
a new Rector, and today we are delighted to say that the Bishop of Portsmouth
came to David Proud's
Collation and Induction Service yesterday - it's now official! We all
wish David a long and enjoyable term as Rector, and we extend a warm
and loving "Welcome to Bedhampton" to David, his wife Bobbie
and their family.
- 27th September - Rev Keith Uphill celebrates the 40th Anniversary of
his Ordination today. Yesterday many of us travelled down to St Cuthbert's
in Copnor for a Thanksgiving Service. Our congratualations to Keith and
Jean.
- We are now taking bookings for our next Afternoon Tea on Wednesday
13th October - more details on our Events

- Our Harvest Services are on Sunday 3rd October - see the Services

Our 2010 Harvest Appeal supports 2 projects…
- WaterAid – we’re collecting cash to help Water Aid
who work in 26 countries to provide clean water, safe sanitation & hygiene
education to the world's poorest people
- Havant Women’s Aid - we’re collecting non-perishable
food & toiletries for the women & children supported by this
local Refuge
- Come and meet our new Rector, David Proud, at his Collation and Induction
service on Tuesday 28th. More details on our Events
page.
- The Parish Office (tonight, 8th September) is in St Thomas Church,
not the Rectory.
July
- Are your children getting bored? Why not try 'Activity Worship' at
St Nicholas on Sunday 1st August.
- Bible-themed crafts and activities for children and adults to
enjoy.
- Refreshments on offer too.
- It starts at 9.30am and ends by 11am following a short Act of
Worship.
- We are celebrating the completion of the latest phase of restoration
of St Thomas' on Friday 30th. Come along between 7-8.30pm to see what's
been achieved. Light refreshments available.
- Recession? What recession? Bad weather? What bad weather? Bedhampton's
Summer Show raised about £4000 - up from last year - on a glorious
summer's afternoon - see the next news clip too...

- Probably the most exciting news of 2010 is that we have a new Rector!
Following the recent interviews, we are delighted to announce that we've
offered the post of Rector and it's been accepted. And soon, we will
be welcoming Rev David Proud and his wife Bobbie into their new home
and their new parish

- Things are happening on our Interregnum

- If someone knocked on your door and gave you £10, you'd rightly
be suspicious. But if they assured you that it was a gift, it was legal,
honest and it was yours, perhaps you'd feel that it was your lucky day.
Well, today, our Church received £36.30 it wasn't expecting. It's
come from EasyFundRaising.
- If you have signed up, well, Thank You - this is down to you!

you that it really IS worth signing up

- Our Events Page mentions our "Try
Thai" evening on March 20th (are you coming?), but now there's more
news - Andy Economides will be speaking. Amongst other things, he's founder
of the Soteria

- We have received an email from the Diocese...
We’re delighted to announce that the new Bishop of Portsmouth
will be the Rt Rev Christopher Foster. He's the current Bishop of Hertford
in the St Albans diocese. Find out more about him here
- Details of our regular Friday "Coffee & Cakes" mornings
are on the Events page but there's
a special one coming up at St Nicholas...
It's on Friday 26th February from 10-11.30am. We're supporting Fairtrade
Fortnight and we will have Traidcraft food & gifts to buy.
If you've never been to "Coffee & Cakes" why not make February
26th the first one you come and try!

- Our interregnum enters an exciting phase today - our "Job advert" for
our new Rector has been published by the Diocese. It might even be that
as you are reading this news item, the person who will become our new
Rector is reading our Parish
Profile, which is our "Job Description". Exciting times!
- Parish Party with Pancakes - Saturday 13th February from 6.00-8.30pm
at St Nicholas - see our Events Page.
- Tickets are now on sale for the South Downs College Music Students'
Concert at St Thomas' on Thursday 11th February. Details on our events
page.
- Songs of Praise comes to St Thomas' on Sunday 31st January at 10.30am.
Not the TV version, but a chance to sing your favourite hymn. Send your
request (please give the reason for your choice) to the Parish
Office by Monday 25th January.
- We are supporting Havant Women's Aid by putting collection boxes in
both churches for good quality women and children's clothes, toiletries,
household and food items.
