It's a joyful day when the Interregnum is over and we have a new spiritual leader for our Church, and on 28th September, the Parish Church of St Thomas was full to bursting with people eager to share the special occasion that marked the start of David Proud's work as Rector of Bedhampton.
Not only was the Church so full that extra chairs were needed, and not only did we welcome parishioners from his previous parish at Ware, but the Ware team also set up a video link so that the rest of former parish could share in the celebratory service.
The Rt Rev Christopher Foster (who was installed as the new Bishop of Portsmouth just a few weeks earlier) and Archdeacon Trevor Reader performed the Collation and Induction. The Bishop's sermon was a real joy - inspiring, amusing and topping off a wonderful occasion.
After the service we moved across to St Nicholas which has a large Hall and kitchen - we used them both!
Before the feast, the Bishop offered a short prayer and a blessing.
