A Church in the Community
We enjoy excellent links with the local community. Many Bedhampton families have strong emotional ties to St Thomas' where generations have celebrated baptisms and marriages and also had their funerals. Local schools visit us as part of their curriculum to learn about faith communities. We have particularly strong links with Bidbury Infants School and Bidbury Junior School . St Nicholas' is a popular venue for 1st Bedhampton Scouts and also Bedhampton Guides. Many of the local uniformed groups participate in a number of church services during the year and also make a huge contribution to the success of the Bedhampton Show. Other groups we have significant links with are Havant Men's Shed, Bedhampton Volunteers, The Manor Trust; the local Safer Neighbourhood Police team and Havant Borough Council, its elected councillors and officers.
Bedhampton Summer Show
This takes place on Bidbury Mead on the first Saturday in July brings together both church and community in an afternoon of games, rides, events, displays, cream teas and stalls selling all manner of goods from fresh fruit and vegetables to secondhand toys. Some of the money raised goes to local community projects.
