Bedhampton Parish

Our Outreach & Mission

‘Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation’ (Mark 16:15)

Our vision: to inspire and equip our church to show God’s love and share the good news of Jesus with our neighbours.

Our neighbours are not just the people of Bedhampton but also the people of our nation and of the world. We support local, national and international organisations. We have regular speakers to inform and inspire our church, helping us to engage in mission in practical ways.

Locally we support the work of our hospice, The Rowans, and some of our church members are engaged in supporting the chaplaincy at our nearest hospital. We are one of the supporting churches for the Havant Food Bank and have weekly collections for it.

Wider afield, we have recently supported TLG, an education charity working with children excluded from mainstream education; Christian Aid in their fight against poverty and injustice; the Soteria Trust who fund educational scholarships and run a business school in Nigeria; Middle East Concern who are advocates for the human rights of the Christian communities in North Africa and the Middle East.

We are also involved in activities which seek to bless the local community. Our Messy Church reaches many families as does Fun Club. Members of the church go to local nursing and residential homes, as well as to the housebound, to take services. We have strong links with local schools where the Rector regularly takes assemblies and the children visit the church buildings, both as part of their curriculum and for occasional special events.

Other activities include: teas for older people in the community; film afternoons (St Nick's Flicks) for church members and their friends; and the Summer Show on the first Saturday in July on Bidbury Mead.

We have very strong links with local Scout and Guiding groups.
